A fresh approach.. albeit with a huge advertising budget.

The to and fro: Programmer/designer super combo

Great discussion.

howardtharp:

Agreed. Ideally one knows both. Not to save on resources or expect the impossible, but because there’s often a gap of possibility when it’s two separate people.

Unfortunately in an enterprise environment, it’s incredibly hard to get good designers, let alone one who knows both. I can’t blame…

'Alone Together' Review Review

Ah.. I love when anecdotal pseudo science fills the pages of a book that will surely have many people nodding their heads in compulsive, conformist need to acknowledge a sense of propriety as they line the author’s pockets while not changing a single iota of their own behavior.  Clever book to write; I’m sure it will sell well.

That said, Ms. Sherry Turkle makes some mighty assumptions about the degrading properties of social media on human interactions and on our ability to process emotion.  It’s a bit tiring to hear yet another one-sided, negative view of the impact technology has on human bonds.  It would be thrilling to read a book or article that chronicles a scientific review of both the positive and negative effects of social media.

As all things in life, social media is both good and bad.  I’m finding these one-sided arguments about as yawn-worthy (and inconsequential) as the perennial Mac vs PC debate.

I'm a technologist with a penchant for organization in love with design.

I enjoy skiing, sailing, and pretty much any sport that starts with the letter "s".

I carry a camera with me wherever I go. I like idioms, but I misuse them. A lot.
